Rolling along at Super 14 Rugby

Since 2008 the Waikato Chiefs Super 14 rugby team mascot "Little Chief" has been parading the field on a Segway PT to excite the crowd. The very first time Segway PTs were seen on a rugby field was at the opening performance of the 3rd test between the All Blacks and the Lions in 2005. Segway NZ provided six PTs for a stunning 7 minute choreographed show on the field supported by a 40 person choir. Three were fitted with lions heads and three with silver ferns, and all were packed with pyrotechnics so they trailed sparks, smoke and launched rockets as they performed a mock battle as a prologue to the sports battle that would begin on the field between the rugby teams soon after.
