The SEG-Link box is a key component of the Remote Service Tool used to diagnose and repair Segway Personal Transporters. This box connects the Segway PT to a PC running special software. Also shown in this photo are a Segway CU Board and a Segway Motor from inside the PowerBase. This photo was taken at our service workbench in Auckland.
Segway New Zealand and our Dealers BodyElectric (Wellington) and Urban Wheels (Christchurch) diagnose and repair the majority of Level 1 and Level 2 issues on-site at the owner's workplace or home, or during a visit to our workshops. Even the most complex Level 3 issues can now be resolved and repaired within just a few days. Courtesy use of a 'loaner' Segway PT will typically be available during any downtime period. Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, Segway Distributors in Queensland, Singapore and Japan have also attained full-service capability over the last few weeks. Early next year the remaining APAC countries will obtain the necessary equipment and training. WARRANTY on NEW and USED Segway Personal Transporters We offer a comprehensive 24 month warranty on all new Segway i2 SE and x2 SE models. All pre-owned Segway i2, i2 SE, x2 and x2 SE models are covered by a comprehensive 90 day warranty. An extension to 12 months can be purchased. Warranty on new Segway Lithium battery packs is 12 months. We occasionally have pre-owned battery packs for sale, and offer a 90 day warranty on these (including an initial 30 day 'performance guarantee' period that the packs will perform to your satisfaction (keeping in mind you are buying a consumable item that is no longer new, but is priced accordingly). All pre-owned first-generation Segway HT i167 (2002-2004), i170 (2004-2005), i180/XT/GT (2006-2007) models are sold with a limited 90 day warranty, reflecting the End Of Life status of these 2002-2006 machines. INFORMATION about servicing older Segway PTs On 10 December 2015 Segway, Inc. announced:
Please be advised that effective December 31, 2015, all Segway® Gen 1, p, I, e and XT series models will be officially designated as End of Life (EOL) products. We've genuinely appreciated Gen 1 owners' enthusiasm for and loyalty to our product.EOL status indicates that Segway, Inc. is running out of spare parts to repair these early models. Here at Segway New Zealand we still have stocks of many new parts, as well as plenty of used parts in good condition. For example, we have new and used gearboxes, handlebars, wheels, fenders and trims. Parts we expect to deplete soonest are likely to be Turning Grips and Control Shaft Bases (CSBs). Many of the parts from i2, i2 SE, x2 and x2 SE models are backwards-compatible with first-generation models. These include tyres, tubes, motors, elastomers, Lithium battery packs and most of the cargo system solutions (e.g. front bags, side cases and bins, golf bag carriers, etc). We do suggest owners of older machines should actively make plans to update their Personal Transporter to our latest i2 SE or x2 SE models. In the meantime, we'll continue to provide replacement sets of 'Intelligent Keys' for first-generation Segway PTs, as well as technical, diagnostic and repair capabilities for years to come. During the middle of the 2000's we sold more than 100 first-generation Segway PTs, and believe more than 90% of these are still fully functional and providing owners the ability to ‘Cover more ground. Be more Productive. Move more intelligently.'
