The first product from the new Segway PowerSports division has launched in New Zealand, and were on display at National Field Days last week (16-19 June 2021).
We reported the first sneak peaks of this exciting lineup here on 26 October 2019 and development has continued at pace since then on the Snarler, Fugleman and Villan.
Segway's unique Hybrid petrol-electric powertrains will feature throughout the range.
Snarler Quad Bikes in short and long wheelbase configurations with petrol drivetrains have been available in New Zealand for several months (from $12,165+GST) in a choice of three colour schemes. Later this year the Hybrid petrol-electric engine option will arrive, delivering twice the torque (96 N-m vs 48 N-m).
Segway Fugleman UTV is also due later this year, also featuring the choice of petrol or Hybrid powertrains. Side-by-side vehicles are increasingly popular on New Zealand farms and rural properties, offering increased safety and convenience along with larger cargo carrying capacity.
The Segway Villan SSV is a recreational sports vehicle - and the Hybrid version is coming for you like something out of a James Bond film - packing 250 N-m torque.

Segway New Zealand has been selling Segway products to Kiwi farmers and recreational users since 2003.
Most recently, we launched had the Segway Dirt Bike range since January 2021, and already Kiwi farmers, forestry and other landowners have been joining recreational riders in purchasing the awesome Segway X260 and X160 models. For example, see Kiwi Farmer Adopts Segway Dirt Bike. To order call 0800 2 SEGWAY or email us at segwaynz@icloud.com.
All full-sized Segway Personal Transporters (PTs) are surprisingly capable across a wide variety of terrain.
Segway's first focused off-road product was the Segway XT Cross-terrain Transporter (2005) featuring ATV tyres. It was designed to take trailblazing riders across mud, sand and snow with safety and easy. This was also the first model in Segway's self-balancing Personal Transporter (PT) range to receive Lithium battery packs (previous models 2002-2005 had used NiMH packs with half the range). Shortly after, the specially configured Segway GT model was the first Golf Transporter, capable of more than 36 holes per charge.
From the same time period the prototype-only Segway Centaur crossed a quad-bike with a PT to create a hybrid device able to transform from riding on 4 wheels to 2 wheels, able to turn around in narrow spaced and climb over objects.
Segway’s next generation of ‘LeanSteer’ PTs (i2, x2 and x2 Golf models) evolved through to the current Segway i2 SE and x2 SE range with ATV, Turf and Golf variants. Search the Segway NZ News archives for many articles about Kiwi farmers and other landowners deploying Segway PTs for productivity and convenience, and about golfers who would never play another round without their Segway PT.
For the more adventurous and agile, Segway's Ninebot ONE Z10 electric unicycle is a unique way to explore the great outdoors on a single, wide, deeply treaded tyre.
The latest 'SE' range of Segway Personal Transporters (PTs) feature Extended Range battery packs for more range than ever before.
