Tauranga Airshow to be patrolled by PTs
UPDATED on 28 Feb On Waitangi weekend, 6th and 7th February 2010, the inaugural Tauranga City Air Show fills the skies over the city. This is full-on spectacle of just about everything that flies - from classic piston engine to jet fighters, gliders to parachute formations, balloons to helicopters.
With a crowd of 25,000 expected, Challenge Security has hired 10 Segway PTs from Segway NZ to ensure effective and efficient public safety.
Security guards on PTs will patrol the entire site, assist with parking, and benefit from an enhanced capability to respond quickly wherever they are required.
Managing Directory Mat Olsson had been looking for an opportunity to utilize Segway PTs for several years. This Airshow will be Challenge's first deployment of PTs - and it will also be the largest deployment to date of guards on PTs at one site in New Zealand.

NZ's largest deployment to date of Segway PTs for security to date (seven of ten PTs used on over the weekend are shown):
Matt Olsson used a PT fitted with side cargo cases to ferry cash from multiple stalls located about the show site to a secure location every hour throughout the weekend.
Mat says "Only a Segway PT could do what we needed to do. There is no other vehicle that is as practical or as safe and appropriate to use in big crowds like this. We'll be using PTs at every event we're involved with from here onwards. I see PTs as a real competitive advantage we can offer over our competitors, and a key contributor to us delivering an even better service than we could previously."
